Giants, skeletons, dragons, elixir, indirect control, and other joys of life — in the new Supercell project
The action of Clash Royale, a game by the authors of Clash of Clans, unfolds in a small arena that fits into one screen. At the bottom of your fortifications: two small towers and one large, royal. At the top — The same enemy positions. For the destruction of each tower the game awards a crown, and the goal of each match is to accumulate more crowns than the opponent before the allotted time expires.
You fight with a small deck of cards, casting destructive spells and summoning various creatures to the battlefield who proceed to conquer the enemy lands along one of the two paths leading upwards. At first glance it seems simple, but even with such elementary mechanics in Clash Royale there are regularly very spectacular and intense battles, where it is not clear to the end, who in the end will get the victory.
In Clash Royale both planning and chance are important. On the one hand, you never know what cards you'll have in your hand. On the other hand, you need to understand very clearly the difference between fighters, their interaction with each other, and most importantly — How to make the most of the card mix that's available right now. Also — exactly when to do it. Each card in Clash Royale costs a certain amount of mana, so you constantly have to choose: to release right now two weak creatures or one strong, or maybe take a risk, save a few seconds of mana, and attack the enemy with all your might.
Fighting Armies in Clash Royale — At the bottom of your fortifications there are two small towers and one big royal one is like two waves pounding against each other. You have to choose the right moment for every attack and counterattack to avoid squandering your warriors on pointless skirmishes in the middle of the map by letting them reach the tower and deal maximum damage, on the one hand, and on the other hand to avoid having to deal maximum damage to the tower — not to find yourself in a situation where the enemy is literally at the gate, and you simply have nothing to answer him, because you have just spent all the resources, and now are waiting for them to recover.
Each fighter (at least half of the units, by the way, borrowed from Clash of Clans) have their own strengths and weaknesses: for example, a giant has great health and attack well, but attacks only the buildings, so put it alone on the field with lots of enemies — not a very smart decision. Valkyrie is good with area attacks, Mini P.Е.К.К.А., On the contrary, is strong against a single enemy — In Clash Royale you constantly have to choose who to field to turn the situation in your favor, and you have a maximum of two or three seconds to choose.
A separate plus is that all of this is very compactly packaged. Matches never last longer than three minutes, and finding an opponent is almost instantaneous. In addition to the battles themselves, the choice of deck is very important — the number of cards in it is limited, so it can take hours of thought and trial matches to find the best combination. In Clash Royale you can spend a monstrous amount of time and not even notice it — all the action is divided into small portions, which quietly pull into the game with his head.
Monetization in the game is made rather unobtrusive, but those who will not want to splurge, over time, will begin to evolve significantly slower than more generous players. The fact that for the success in the Clash Royale are given prize chests filled with gold and cards. The latter are most often duplicated, but duplicates also have an important role — Having accumulated a certain number of copies of any card, you can increase its level and improve the characteristics of a fighter or a spell. The trick is that the opening of each chest takes a few hours of real time (the more valuable the chest, the longer it takes to open), and the number of slots for them is strictly limited. You want to get cards faster and not lose some of your loot — Buy special crystals for the money, which allow you to open the chest instantly.
True, the developers have tried to smooth things out a bit by adding free chests to Clash Royale, which are instantly unlocked every few hours, and the so-called «royal chests», which are activated once a day, and you can open them after collecting a certain number of crowns in battles. Clans bring great value — These are essentially swap platforms for cards that someone else might need to pump up their deck.
